How long will I need to stay in England?

Deciding to travel to England to access safe and legal abortion care can be a difficult choice to make. We understand. Our unique concierge service is here to help you plan your journey if you need support.

How long will I have to stay in England for my abortion treatment?

Because the journey back to Ireland is short (lower than a 3 hour flight) you may be able to fly back to Ireland on the same day. Our advice team will be able to talk to you about this in more detail when you call us.

Travel advice for medical abortion

You can fly home on the same day as your medical abortion treatment. (provided you have been discharged from our clinic/centre by our clinical team).

However, please keep in mind that:

  • Bleeding may start before you get home and could be very heavy;
  • You may pass the pregnancy any time after taking misoprostol;
  • You may experience side effects of the medication such as nausea, diarrhoea, and shivering.

Travel advice for surgical abortion

You can fly home on the same day as your procedure (provided you have been discharged from our clinic/centre by our clinical team).

General advice about flying back to Ireland after your abortion

Booking flights
